Quality Work Done in a Timely Manner
Our service department is located in the center of our store and is the heart and soul of Gear Works Cyclery. All of the policies and support systems that we create to run our store are designed to support our service department first. Our mechanics have an extensive range of knowledge based on decades of hands-on experience repairing bikes. Whether you need just a minor adjustment or a major overhaul, we will do our very best to take care of your bike.
We expect our bikes to work their best. So should you.
When you bring your bike in for service, we will access the needs of your bike based on its condition and expected usage. While inspecting your bike, we will inform you of what it needs, and why. The repair estimate is written at this time. If by chance we missed something, we will call to advise you before additional work is performed. When your bike is finished, you will receive a call to let you know your bike is ready for riding. Please take a look at our service rate page, if you do not see a specific item listed, please call and we’ll be glad to answer your questions.
Turn Around Time
Flat tires, and some minor repairs are done while you wait. We would prefer to take care of small repairs immediately, and will make every effort to do so. Other not so “minor” minor repairs typically take a few days to turn around. They include brake and or shift adjustment, wheel truing, suspension fluid change etc. In the event you need a part that is not available, turn around time may be delayed a couple days. Tune ups and other major repairs may take up to a week during peak season ( March-September). Our goal is to turn around your bike as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality.
Scheduling an Appointment
We understand that for some being without your bike for several days can be traumatic. Therefore, just for you, our service department sets aside time slots each week for bikes to be worked on by appointment. Just drop your bike off and it will be done that day (of course, if your bike requires a part that is not in stock, there will be a delay). Please call us for availability (a deposit may be required to hold a desired date).
